It is overcast today. Yesterday was so beautiful -- blue skies, gentle breeze, cool. I was up and out early. I weeded while Ron went to buy and bring home a used riding mower. He needed a small one to do areas that he can't do with the tractor. Kimberly took some pictures. I put them on my website under Families and Pets.

Missy is lying here at my side. Her tail is wagging and she is patiently waiting for me to get up and throw her frizbee. Kimberly just stuck her head and asked if I would hold up her hood while she puts windshield wiper fluid in her car.

I am back. Held up the hood, threw the frizbee a couple of times, drained the swimming pool filter and put away stuff that I had left outside yesterday. (I thought today was to be as beautiful.)

Ron just got back from the flea market. He brought me some nectarines. Kimberly stuck her head out her bedroom door again to say that she is leaving for work.

Tomorrow Chris, my favorite dog, goes to the vet to be scoped to try and diagnose why he is getting nose bleeds. Hope all goes well.

Finally the Reagan funeral is over. I guess it was a big deal, but in my personal opinion, his legacy is highly overblown. I remember the Iran-Contra affair. It was one of the biggest whitewashed scandals that I have ever heard of. He did forge a relationship with Gorbachov but I believe that the USSR fell under its own weight, not anything that Reagan did. Oh well...

I don't know if I will be able to get in a walk with my dogs today. It is threatening to rain. We did go yesterday. I was so cognizant of the beauty surrounding me -- birds chirping, green leaves against the blue sky, a gentle breeze, lazy creek flowing by... I hope that I have many more walks. I go even in the cold of winter. It is different scenery then. But it too has its beauty.

Writing of my walks and the current CNN programming beating into my brain, pushes the Iraq mess into my thoughts. I once blogged about my walks in the country contraposed against the horrors of war in Iraq. It is still such a mess. I am not as sure at all what can be done to fight the violent Islamist fundamentalists. They are making the world quite a mess. Their goals seem to be unattainable and it seems to me they could get more with different methods at this point anyway. Maybe they needed to call attention to their movement but other approaches are needed now.

May the United States be on God's side. Amen.
